I have one son and when I told the father that I was filling child support papers, he said that If I did so he would fill for child custody. Who do I really need to speak to in this case, and what are my chances of losing my child.

There no circumstances in detail explain but I'll try to afford you an answer. First, child support of minor child(ren) is statutory and must be adhere to by non-custodian parent. You are entitled to child support under law. He can filed for custody if he wants but that doesn't mean that he will be awarded custody. That will depend on several things with respect to your caring for said child, what's in the best interest of child, your character and background, etc. At this point only you know for sure what kind of parent you are?

You need to contact a family law attorney. The attorney would need to get many details from you, such as how long you've been separated, are you divorced, the circumstances of your situation. The lawyer can give you advice on what might happen.

Jamiee, your question is too broad to answer without knowing the particulars of your case. You need to directly contact a family law attorney for further advice or consultation.
